For the NBA Finals, Dright Howard will be sporting a new pair of shoes from Adidas. Check out the details and pics below. Sick sick sick. Apparently, even the big men in the league need to lose a little weight, in the shoes I mean. The man-child will be rockin a pair of shoes that are 6 ounces lighter than the shoes he wore in the regular season. Please don’t tell me that he’ll be able to jump even higher. That might lead to the Lakers requesting that the rim be raised to 13 feet. That way hopefully he won’t dunk every trip down the court. But then again, you never know with this guy. He’ll figure out a way to dunk just about anything.

SUPERMAN ASKS + RECEIVES:

DWIGHT DEBUTS NEW TS COMMANDER LT SHOE AT NBA FINALS

EXCLUSIVE AUCTION OF GAME WORN, AUTOGRAPHED SHOES; ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO CHARITY

With 82 in-season games and 19 Playoff games under his belt, fighting fatigue as he heads into the 2009 NBA Finals is Dwight Howard’s #1 concern. Enter the new TS Commander LT. This exclusive player edition concept is the direct result of Dwight requesting a lighter shoe to carry him through the fourth quarter.   At 6 oz lighter than the shoe he was wearing during the regular season, the TS Commander LT will continue to give him the superior cushioning in the paint minus the added weight enabling him to continue to dominate the boards. This exclusive grey and blue Finals design also introduces the new “fat stripes” design concept, which provides enhanced mid-foot support and stability.

Alright, folks. I’ve gotten great responses from the previous post last week about the raffle for shoes autographed by Dwight Howard. First of all, I want to thank you all in advance for supporting such a great cause. Hopefully, the money we raise from this can help not only my cousin in his fight against Leukemia, but for anyone else that is affected by this disease.

So here’s how the raffle will happen:

  • “Raffle Tickets” are $5 each, and there is no limit to how many tickets each person can purchase. The more you donate, the better your chances are of winning the shoes.
  • Raffle Tickets can be purchased through PayPal by sending your donation to REMOVED BY PAYPAL (That’s an account I set up specifically for this raffle) or by clicking here:

*edit* Paypal is being dumb and asked me to remove the PayPal link/image since apparently I’m offering gambling by raffling off the shoes. Hey PayPal, you might want to actually read not only this post, but the email I sent you. This raffle is for a pair of shoes, and the money is getting donated to Leukemia research. Apparently you aren’t that interested in being involved in a good cause either.

Either way, you guys can still send the donations to REMOVED BY PAYPAL.

  • If your account does not match your actual name and email address, please let me know by either sending me an email to cbui81@yahoo.com, or posting a comment here. I want to make sure that everyone that participates gets their due recognition. During the raffle period, I will occasionally post the names of those who have donated, and I need your email address so I can contact you if you win the shoes!
  • Upon receiving your donation, I will email you with a set of numbers representing your “Tickets” (Don’t worry, I’ll keep track of the numbers also if you happen to lose them)
  • On May 31st, I will be running the numbers through random.org and let that program pick the winner.
  • On June 1st, the winner will be announced on Nothin But Bball, and I’ll contact you to get your address.

Simple, simple raffle. Nothing fancy. Just people getting together and raising money for a great cause.

As for where the money raised goes, here is a breakdown:

Now I’m pretty sure you all have been dying to take a look at the shoes.

If you took a look at the video in my Raffle announcement post from last week, you probably figured out which shoes we’re auctioning off. And no, they aren’t shoes the D Howard wore in a game, although it’d be pretty funny if he tried to fit into these. They’re a 9.5 US… he might not even be able to fit his big toe in there.  I’d also like to give a HUGE thank you to Tom from Venture Media Group out in Carpinteria, CA for hooking up the photos, and Kenny Hyder for setting me up with Tom. Check out the pictures Tom took below.

Of course, we can’t do this without giving a big virtual hug and high five to the person that started it all. Big thanks to Kristen over at Adidas for being a huge supporter of this cause and for sending me the autographed “kix” as she calls them. You’re awesome and this couldn’t have happened without you. Thank you, Kristen.

Alright everyone, you’ve read through this huge post, now let’s get this raffle started right! I want to see us raise a crazy amount of money so the doctors fighting Leukemia can have the funding they need to create the medicines to kill off this disease. Again, thank you everyone in advance. Spread the word, and let’s give Leukemia a swift kick in the butt… with shoes autographed by Dwight Howard.

Alright, let’s put aside the whole Dalembert incident. It’s the Playoffs and guys are bound to get heated. Dalembert had him all wrapped up and Howard retaliated. If it was on the playground, that definitely would have happened, but since this the NBA, everyone expects the players to hold every single emotion inside.

Tonight, Howard gets a whole new look. Adidas created these for the big man that likes to bang down low. Hmm. What would make Howard EVER want to wear these? *Note: Yes that was sarcasm.

He’ll be rockin these shoes in a Black colorway for tonight’s away game, and Whites for the home games. These won’t be released until October, but the new design is definitely worth the wait. I have no doubt the Black colorways are gonna look sick tonight. Maybe my contact over at Adidas can send me 365 pairs… one for each day of the year. We can all dream can’t we?

If any of you guys turned on the Nuggets game and began wondering why they looked like the Celtics, the NBA has gone green for the next week. The Nugs, Bobcats, and Bulls will all be wearing green uniforms and socks made from 45% organic cotton during some of their home games this coming week to raise environmental awareness.

This is some of the stuff that will be going on, between April 2nd and April 10th (next Friday):

ADDITIONAL ON-COURT GREEN INITIATIVES:

  • Denver Nuggets, Charlotte Bobcats, and the Chicago Bulls will wear green-colored uniforms and socks made from 45 percent organic cotton during select home games throughout the week to raise additional environmental awareness.

  • NBA.com will also host an online auction of Spalding basketballs, made from 40 percent recycled materials and autographed by NBA players. The auction will tip off on April 2 and continue through April 16, with all proceeds benefiting the NRDC.

  • During Green Week, the entire NBA family will team up to generate awareness and funding to protect the environment through special on-court apparel, auctions to support environmental preservation organizations, hands-on community service projects, and the launch of a public service announcement featuring Hollywood icon, noted environmentalist and NRDC Trustee, Robert Redford.

  • In addition, NBA.com will launch a new micro site, www.nba.com/green, featuring everything from greening tips for fans to interviews with NBA players.

Each team will be running different promotions according to my source at Adidas, such as special on-court apparel, auctions to support environmental preservation organizations and hands-on community service projects. Whether the apparel looks good or not, they’re doing their part to raise awareness for environmental preservation. That’s a huge thumbs up in my book.

The coolest thing that heard that’s coming out of this week though? If you’re in the New York area, check this out. It’s all about giving back to those who need it. Give a little, get a little. Donate some old shoes that have been sitting in your garage, help kids in need, and get 20% of your purchase at the store. It’s a win-win.

  • Footwear drive to collect gently worn athletic shoes.
  • Customers who bring in shoes will receive a 20 % discount on their purchase of new shoes.
  • All donated footwear will go to Hoops 4 Hope, a global not-for-profit organization that supports youth development throughout southern Africa
  • H4H programs teach life skills through the game of basketball.

Here’s you chance to get off your butts, and help out a great cause. I think this might just be the first promotional event from David Stern that I actually approve of… or maybe it’s jsut not from David Stern at all. That would make way more sense. Either way, help out the environment, and help our kids in need. Good work, NBA.

This is just a little something from Adidas. Thanks for having me be a part of this launch, Adidas!

They’ve launched a series of videos with NBA stars KG, Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, and TMac. These 4 guys skipped college and went straight to the Pros, but check our what they’d look like if they went to college… except a few years later. Check this shiz out.

Also, for the Tourney, Adidas is releasing a new line called “Mad Clima.” I’m diggin’ the name and the gear. Check out the Mad Climas on their site, www.adidasbasketball.com.

These shoes are just straight off the chains. I’m looking forward to seeing these in action.  And are you kidding me? $80 for these? Check out the upcoming post for pictures and details about The Mad Climas. One word… SICK!

KG goes to UCLA:
It’s Brotherhood time!

D Howard becomes a Jayhawk:
This guy is freakin hilarious! I swear he’s a 15 yr old in a grown man’s body. Hoooooward!

J Smoove representing Pitt:
Kinda weird, but he just looks right in a Pitt jersey.

TMac rollin’ with Louisville:
Please believe it! Can’t wait to see you back on the court TMac. Get your body right and we’ll see you next year rippin’ on people.
